Mode identification: Amplitude and phase diagrams across the line profile

 

  Telting & Schrijvers (1997) found simple relations between the phase diagrams Ψ(λ) and the L and M values:

  •   ΔΨmain       ∼     π L
  •   ΔΨharmonic  ∼   2π M

 

Needs high S/N profiles to get accuracy

  •   L +/- 1
  •   M +/- 2
